ONE DOWN ONE TO GOOOOO

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JUST GET IT DONEEEEE. MAKE IT HAPPEN. JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN. ITLL HAPPEN. AHHHH.

FAQ: How many inches are those heels? 3? 4? Zomg 5 inches how do you even walk?!

Maybe I’m just weird, but I seem to have a very different perception of how shoes feel on my feet.

Let’s break it down, starting from the top (haha kind of punny!!!)

Keep in mind that most heels above 3 inches have some sort of platform in the front that make it so you feel less height on your foot than the actual height of the shoe, if that makes sense. If you have a 4-inch heel with a 1-inch platform, your foot really only is feeling 3 inches on it. Platforms make heels generally a lot easier to walk in for that reason, and also the extra material absorbs shock from the ground, making it less painful if you’re wearing the shoes for a long time. Why do you think strippers wear those crazy 6-7 inch heels with the 2-3 inch platforms (other than the fact that they make their legs look nice and long?) ? HAHA.

5 inches: depends a lot on the platform that’s coming with the heels (usually 0.75 inches to an inch at this height). But in general, a 5-inch heel is the only height where I am always aware of the fact that I am wearing heels. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s difficult (it could be when doing things like going down stairs), but it just means I’m always FEELING the heel. I know it’s there. And these will usually hurt if I’m standing around and walking for more than like an hour at a time. Can wear for maybe half a day if there is frequent resting between shorter intervals of movement. Running becomes difficult, and I end up doing more of a trot if I try.

4.5 inches: Also depends on the platform (usually 0.5-1 inches at this height). If there’s a more significant platform, can be quite comfy and I could forget I’m wearing heels maybe 40% of the time (probably when I’m walking on normal, flat solid ground). If not, still feeling that heel almost all the time. Stairs could be difficult (by the way when I say difficult I mean like I’d have to pay attention to every step down…Like I can’t just go down the stairs without/barely thinking as I could normally if I were wearing flats. But it doesn’t SERIOUSLY impede my abilities to walk down stairs)

4 inches: It generally gets a LOT easier to move around in 4-inch heels for me. I’m probably not even really conscious of the fact that I’m wearing a heel 50% of the time. Which means my movements are completely normal and natural, easy as breathing during that 50% of the time. The other 50…the terrain sucks or there’s going down stairs or my feet have started hurting. Can wear a comfy pair of 4 inch heels for a whole night out/dancing with minimal discomfort. As in, it’ll hurt by the end but not so badly that I can’t forget about it.

3 inches: By the time I get down to 3 inches, I pretty much almost cannot feel the heel….Or like it feels like an inch. Basically, nothing is difficult. Go downstairs? No prob, don’t have to think. Run? That’s fine. My running is pretty much how it’d be normally wearing flats. Unless you asked me to sprint. Maybe I can’t sprint normally, not that I’ve tried. Can wear a comfy pair of these lovers for a whole day generally, unless I’m doing something strenuous or an excessive amount of walking/being active with no breaks. Granted, my feet will probably hurt after, and I might want to wear flats the next day but they won’t be DYING and I won’t be to the point of limping. Plus I probably wouldn’t choose to wear them for a whole day if I knew I was going to be very active..maybe just half a day. With minimal discomfort.

2 inches: What heel? I’m wearing heels?

1 inch: Those tiny kitten wedges? I’m wearing flats. I’m wearing flats. I wear my kitten wedges (I have two pairs that probably everyone else just thinks are flats) as flats. They don’t count.

Real flats: Cool. Actually, sometimes if I wear flats for an entire day, by the end my HEELS hurt pretty badly, as if the bone of my heel is trying to dig through the meat and skin that covers it. Too much pressure on my heel!

*Everything above is based on the assumption that the shoe actually fits (heels that don’t fit are ALWAYS a pain to walk in, no matter what) and that the shoe is pretty good in quality/comfort. There are always those feet-killer heels that actually make your feet feel like dying because they suck and are cheap (like they have zero cushion, or straps that dig into your skin in all the wrong ways), or by some virtue of the design (like a 0.25 platform on a 5.5-inch heel). Those hurt. Period. But that’s not by virtue of simply having a heel.

COOL so that’s my breakdown of heels. People who are not familiar with heels always seem to think that a 3 inch heel is a very tall heel. PEOPLE, do you know how much 3 inches is? Nothing. The length of a girl’s middle finger maybe. But then they stare at me incredulously if I say 4.5 inches and ask me how I manage to walk. I just do, okay? How do you want me to answer you?? Or when girls are like “Omg teach me how to walk in heels! I can’t do it for the life of me!” it gets annoying after awhile because I have nothing to say. I’ve never ever had a problem with walking in heels. One day I picked up a 3-inch pair of wedges, found it to be quite comfy, picked up some 4-inch stilettos and found them to also be pretty awesome/easy to walk in, and just WORE THEM. Sorry, I don’t know how I can walk in heels, and sorry, I don’t know why you can’t and I don’t know how to make it so you CAN walk in them. Practice makes perfect though, right?

I wish the whole world would just read this so nobody will ever have to gawk at my shoe height again. I wear heels cuz I like them and I like the designs and I like the varieties and they make my legs look nice. Of course I like when people pay attention to my shoes (I love compliments!), but not when it’s in the wrong way… Namely, ogling at the height (even if it’s in an impressed manner, which is usually the case) and asking me how I do it or whatever. THAT’S NOT THE POINT; WHY CAN’T YOU JUST ENJOY THE SHOES?! TT_TT

Actually, to clarify, I guess the thing that gets to me is not really the part where people are impressed/surprised/in awe of my heels. I guess that’s fine. But really, it’s the follow up part, which is usually “How do you even walk?” or “Don’t your feet hurt?” or some variant of those questions.

BUT I LOVE ALL MY SHOES (ESPECIALLY MY HEELS) AND I WILL CONTINUE TO WEAR THEM NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I GET ASKED THOSE ANNOYING QUESTIONS!!!! MY LOVE FOR HEELS OUTWEIGHS ALL ANNOYANCE! Peehee. :)

OMG DAY=MADE

Just as I was moping, feeling sorry for myself, and thinking bitterly about how physically taxing studying was (my hand and back hurt so much) and how badly my day sucked (my computer broke and threw me into panic mode, disrupting my productivity…) and how I cant have that stupid pizookie nor the stupid ice cream….
